Not #3 – Empire of Liberty: A History of the Early Republic, 1789-1815

My reading order for this challenge has largely been determined by my local library–which titles are currently on the shelves, which ones are on hold.  A few days ago I picked up a title that just came off hold, Gordon S. Wood’s Empire of Liberty:  A History of the Early Republic, 1789-1815.  I read a couple of good reviews of the book and have been eager to fill the huge and embarrassing gap in my knowledge of U.S. history.  I must have forgotten about how long the book is . . . needless to say, with my current schedule, I won’t be diving into this beast of a book until the summer time.  Next up:  Lorrie Moore’s A Gate at the Stairs.
